Wi-Fi Calling and Texting
(also known as Wi-Fi Calling)
Ever run into the issue where you are trying to call or text your friend or classmate, and you can’t get any cell reception? Try Wi-Fi calling!
Wi-Fi Calling is the ability to make mobile phone calls and send text messages using a Wi-Fi connection rather than your mobile cellular network. Wi-Fi Calling is useful when you are in an area that has weak cellular coverage causing issues with cellular calls and texts. Wi-Fi Calling has been enabled in all Middlesex College buildings including Perth Amboy and New Brunswick Centers. The following information will demonstrate how to enable Wi-Fi Calling on a smartphone.
Requirement:
- Wi-Fi is enabled on your mobile phone.
- An active wireless Internet connection. Please note this will work for any Wi-Fi connection on or off campus. You must connect to the Middlesex College Wi-Fi.
- A Wi-Fi calling compatible device with appropriate settings enabled - depends on device manufacturer, OS, and cellular service carrier.
- See suggested links below for the different carriers FAQs.
- Some devices or cellular carriers may not support Wi-Fi Calling. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile support this feature.
